You’ve probably faced more than once the request to be committed to something, someone, or yourself. You’ve probably found that sticking to a commitment is not always easy and that it can actually be quite simple to fail.

First of all, it is important to understand the definition of commitment:

There are several factors to making a commitment:
  1. Willingness - do you really want to do it and see the results?
    Sometimes it is obvious that you want it but somewhere inside you, you think that it will be better to stay miserable and that everybody will consider you in everything. This is a weak position that you must overcome. So move out of your comfort zone and enforce your will on yourself.
  2. Belief
    ...you believe in..
    You cannot commit without believing in what you do and in your success. You should enforce this belief in yourself.
  3. Give your time and energy
    Being fully committed to your goal is not a passive activity. You will need to keep yourself focused and know that your energy will have to be dedicated to working on and maintaining your commitment. This will take time, but as long as you are able to keep yourself moving in the right direction, we promise you will see the results.
  4. Promise or firm decision
    Set aside some time just for you to make the promise to yourself that no matter the obstacles, no matter how busy or low you might be feeling, you will ALWAYS take the time that you need to work on your goal. Repeat your promise to yourself every day, knowing that you are stronger than any temptations that may come your way. 

If you want to be really committed, you need to follow the next steps:

  1. Tell the world - Talk with your friends, share on your Instagram, Facebook, Twitter. Let people know what you have decided and what you are going to do.
  2. Tell when - Decide on a time to start and when you would like to achieve your goal. Share your progress with everyone.
  3. Go and do it - Act on your promise to yourself. 

What you will see is that people around you will support you and this will strengthen your mental capability to keep your promise and achieve your goals.
